Learn how to facilitate LWVME's interactive, educational workshop on local government. This workshop is offered to community groups with the goal of educating and empowering more Mainers to understand and get involved with local government.
The LWVME Speakers' Bureau, which will coordinate trained facilitators to respond to workshop requests. As a facilitator, you can choose to volunteer for requests that fit your schedule or are in your area. New facilitators will have opportunities to shadow or co-facilitate with staff or other volunteers before facilitating workshops themselves.
The local government workshop is designed to be a fun, flexible, and interactive workshop that: 1. provides some level-setting, foundational knowledge about how local government works (tailored to the specific community the workshop is being held in) and 2. empowers participants to take action in their community at the local government level. Workshops are intended to be roughly an hour and a half in length and can be held in person or virtually.
